Senior Middle Market Broker

The Role

Middle Market Senior Broker helps stimulates revenue growth and meets business objectives, including placing new business and retaining clients.  Markets new business opportunities and secures coverage to meet client needs.  Supervises and markets renewal business for adequacy of coverage and competitive rates.    Participates in new business opportunities, including RFPs.  Develops markets where needed locally and supports nationally based relationships.  Coordinates with local office leadership on specific accounts to ensure alignment between placement and production strategies; maintains strong relationship with local team at all levels.  Manages daily placement operations.  Influences a team of brokers and associate brokers.  Client facing and has a high complexity book.  Travels as needed.  Collaborates within broader Casualty team – domestic and international – and with WTW colleagues and teams. License required.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve in a senior role on major accounts for market placement and client relationship
  • Advise clients/strategize/provide expertise on complex business
  • Contribute to business growth objectives (e.g., participate in RFP responses/presentations, attend proactive sales meetings, place new business opportunities)
  • Assist in establishing placement strategy for region
  • Help recruit, motivate, mentor and manage workflow of office placement staff; ensure local succession planning is in place
  • Maintain and develop relationships with WTW’s regional leaders, participating in regional team meetings
  • Maintain and develop relationships with carriers and underwriters

Qualifications:

  • Complexity of book: High
  • 8+ years of experience in underwriting or broking
  • Insurance broker’s P&C license required
  • Knowledge and understanding of global marketplace
  • Strong leadership and mentorship skills
  • Enhanced client service skills
  • Skilled at interfacing with clients and prospects
  • Strong presentation skills
