Senior Reinsurance Treaty Broker - Property

Willis Re, Inc. is seeking ambitious, analytical broking talent with 10-15 years of experience in insurance or consulting to work in our treaty broking team in New York, NY. It is necessary to have a predominance of property experience in developing reinsurance strategies preferably with large, national or global clients. This is a client facing role in a team environment that involves managing existing accounts, as well as new business production and new product development.

The Role
  • Work with the broking team, actuaries and cat modelers to analyze insurance risks on a portfolio level in order to advise clients on reinsurance treaty structures to mitigate downside risk and improve capital efficiency. 
  • Negotiate and manage placement of reinsurance treaties utilizing markets from the US, London, Bermuda and around the world. 
  • Manage the coordination of underwriting and claims audits of insurance clients. 
  • Ensure company, market and client related documentation is issued (internally and externally) accurately and on time.
  • Comply with external and internal regulatory and statutory policies, procedures and regulations.
  • Coordinate internal resources, such as analytics, contracts and client services to provide solutions to client(s).
  • Meet with senior managers of client companies to present materials.
  • The candidate will be expected to join the Property Segment participating on the development of our global production strategy.
  • Research on industry topics and the development of content to be shared with Clients and Prospects.
The Requirements
  • This position would require management capabilities, coordinating brokers and analytics towards the development of reinsurance strategies and placement.
  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university. 10 - 15 years of work experience, preferably in Property insurance or reinsurance or consulting. Experience required in developing and giving strategy presentations to clients, reinsurers and internal groups. 
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from clients, reinsurers and colleagues alike.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, percentiles and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
