Software Support & Administration Technician

Summary of Role

If you are a technically oriented software support technician with organisational skills, we have an exciting opportunity for you to become part of a software development group driving our key UK Retirement systems forward.

As part of the software support team, you will operate in a broad ranging part technical, part organisational role supporting the operation and quality delivery of our software systems.

Our Retirement Technology Solutions (RTS) group designs, builds, hosts and supports financial and administration software for our user base, both internal and external. Our group is made up by multiple Agile Scrum and Kanban teams around the globe, working collaboratively as we strive to reduce time to market, deliver increased business value and improve the quality of our digital services.

This role will suit individuals who have a passion for software and are looking for an opportunity working as part of a technology solutions group, training will be provided. 

The Role
Under the general supervision of the Support Manager and within a small support team, your duties will include:

  • Administrative support for operations in our development teams

  • Handling application support cases for software applications / infrastructure

  • Playing an active role in managing the delivery against our software quality process

Technical duties will include:

  • Providing general technical support for our business software and systems operations

  • Monitoring and managing daily system checks

  • Maintaining group intranet pages

  • Granting and managing security access in Active Directory

Application support duties include:

  • Detailed bespoke software related call and problem handling

  • Utilising “experience based” problem analysis for resolution or escalation to technical specialists or teams

Organisational duties include:

  • Managing loan equipment

  • Producing management and financial reports in Excel

  • Managing our software inventory records

  • Active involvement in managing project information within our quality release processes

The Requirements

  • Hold a keen interest in technology and software, confident to be actively involved in technical matters and problem solving, not just call handling

  • Some experience of working in a support role in a technical capacity in the software industry

  • Have sufficient knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint to be able to create reports, manipulate data and manage web pages & content effectively within these formats

  • Be a logical thinker who is well organised, enjoys diverse duties and has a desire to learn quickly and gain responsibility

  • Be comfortable collaborating as part of a team but equally able to work independently

  • Client focused
