Underwriter

The Role
Responsible for New Business/Renewals & Mid Term Agreement’s under the terms of the Delegated Underwriting Authority and monitor to ensure terms and pricing are in line with the current market appetite.

Refer into Insurers where rates / terms are not available in the guides and as may be appropriate to negotiate best possible terms for our clients.

Responsibilities:
  • Meet agreed service standards of the GB Broking business and insurers to bind and process risks within agreed timescales.
  • Strict adherence to Underwriting Authority and all internal procedures
  • Ensuring full compliance with the delegated underwriting authority from insurers.
  • Analyses of specific case loss history to ensure rates and terms / referrals are in line with DUA permissions
  • Ensure on going compliance with Willis Towers Watson guidelines and procedures
  • Meeting agreed service standards of the GB Broking business and insurers to bind and process in scope risks within agreed timescales.
  • Building and maintaining excellent working relationships with GB Broking units to maximise take up of the facility.
  • Assist Mumbai associates with the production and issue of accurate and detailed insurance schedules for renewals, new business and mid-term adjustments.
  • Building and maintaining excellent working relationships with insurers
  • Ensure all stakeholders are up to date on market knowledge including new products, changes in underwriting philosophy and overall Willis Towers Watson relationship.
  • Participation in insurer meetings as and when required to review progress and efficiency of facility.
The Requirements
  • Good team-player with the ability to communicate with people at a variety of levels, both internally and externally.
  • Good understanding of Excess of Loss insurance principles and the London subscription market
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Must be numerate
  • Must be able to work at pace in a structured environment
  • I.T. literate with basic Microsoft Excel skills preferred
  • CII qualified (Or working towards)
  • Previous Personal Accident & Travel experience required
