Business Development Director

Key Purpose of the Role: • Accountable for managing and leading a team of dedicated Business Development “hunters” in country/region of responsibility. Sales income forms a key part of the overall commercial budget delivery and a core part of the future growth strategy • Provide team leadership and management, including building personal development plans and aligning objectives, incentives etc to facilitate delivery of the eCommerce strategy Key role deliverables: • Manage and lead Business Development team including: • Regularly reviewing individuals’ performance and recommending actions to improve • Providing feedback via observing customer meetings and calls, 1-1 sessions and performance management reviews • Develop and implement measures and KPIs and use to assess the performance of the team portfolio • Facilitate team delivery of annual new business objectives. Activities include: o Overseeing vertical planning, reviewing plans and making recommendations o Supporting BDMs in commercial discussions, attending meetings and overseeing follow-up if necessary o Facilitating close collaboration between BDMs, Relationship Managers and Vertical Leads, Delivery and Product Managers to develop solutions and advice (e.g. legal/regulatory) o Identifying new market entry opportunities for merchants to develop global coverage o Overseeing the building and maintenance of new customer pipelines • Work with regional peers to present a consistent global message to customers including building the WorldPay brand through presence at trade shows, speaking, engagements etc • Train and develop (new) team members • Lead the roll out of the new CRM tool into the key accounts portfolio • Act as point of escalation for all issues, complaints, opportunities • Attend regular service and account review meetings with merchants and Business Development Manager Key Relationships: Business Development team Merchants Relationship Management Product and Delivery   What we look for in our people: Our Personality • Smart • Spirited • Helpful Our Behaviours • We solve problems • We use our imagination and innovate • We communicate effectively • We are resilient • Results are important • We mean what we say Skills and Abilities Sound knowledge of various operating models around merchant introduction, on-boarding, compliance, contracts and revenue sharing arrangements End to end understanding of internal capabilities and limitations to support above across platforms, geographies and business arrears (acquiring, fraud, gateway) Experience of operating in a fast paced, commercial sales environment Experience of building, shaping and developing a team to deliver stretching business objectives Experience of working in a remote location and coordinating the site activities as well as working with a remote HQ Experience of senior stakeholder engagement in client organisations Capable of negotiating multi-million pound contracts at main board level with Finance Directors and Treasurers of FTSE 100 companies.
