
Legal Counsel
Role Specification: Job Title: Legal Counsel, Global eCom Management Level: E1 Division / Location:
Worldpay Legal Global eCom / Singapore Department: Legal Development Reporting to: Senior Legal
Counsel, Global eCom, Singapore Financial / Budgetary Responsibility: None Reporting in (headcount
numbers): No direct/indirect reports Purpose of Role: To provide on the ground consistent and high-
quality legal advice to the Worldpay Global eCom business in APAC Singapore (from the Singapore
office). Native level Mandarin and/or Japanese language skills are paramount. Critical to this will
be supporting the Senior Legal Counsel, Global eCom, Singapore, to whom this role will report, the
Associate General Counsel, Global eCom and the Group General Counsel ,(both based in the UK), and
seamless working with the rest of the global eComLegal, eCoam legal team globally (currently based
in UK, Brazil, Singapore, Brazil (Sao Paulo), and the US Amsterdam, (San Francisco)).) and
Atlanta). Critical to the success of this role will be the ability to rapidly build personal
credibility and ensure effective stakeholder management across the Worldpay group. Key
Responsibilities & Tasks: • Provide high quality, business focussed legal support directly to a
growing and developing global business through a strong understanding of both legal and business
requirements. • Commercial contracts negotiation, liaising with customers, suppliers and senior
management in respect of negotiations, transaction structuring and contributing to debates and
implementing solutions outside of the legal remit. • Ensuring continual improvements to the
capabilities of the in-house legal function. • Driving a consistency of approach across Worldpay in
respect of appetite, policy standards and governance. • Legal education for the business through
bespoke training. [and management of the dawn raid competition process for the office ]. • Managing
and engaging with external counsel (primarily re regulatory matters). Key Relationships: •

Global eCom; Merchants Solutions the Group General Counsel and FIS Group General Counsel; Regional
General Manager, Global eCom; VPs and Country Managers, Global eCom; Compliance Director, Global
eCom; PNP Franchise Business Development Team; customer relationship managers, sales and marketing
teams, procurement specialists, technology and information security team members, and (credit) risk
team • External: External counsel, other advisors Global remit of the role: Global Reach Person
Specification: Qualifications: Qualified lawyer (3 - 7 years experience) Skills & Abilities: Proven
ability to understand and provide incisive, reliable and commercial legal advice and solutions on
complex business issues as well as excellent drafting skills and professionalism Knowledge: •
Understanding of financial services and regulation • Broad ranging corporate and commercial legal
experience • Payments experience a plus Experience: • Experience at a recognised high quality
corporate/commercial law firm – solid training and post qualification experience in private
practice • International legal qualification (England, Australia, US, Singapore, HK) [and ideally
also PRC qualified ] • Native level Mandarin and/or Japanese language skills • Ideally, some
experience in an in-house role (whether on secondment or after leaving private practice). •
Managing relationships with senior lawyers, customers and internal stakeholders. • Comfortable with
ambiguity and change. • Experience of negotiating and documenting a wide range of complex
commercial agreements. • Working internationally (or on cross border deals) an advantage. Personal

integrity Additional Requirements: • Direct experience of payment services and/or one of Worldpay’s
major client industry groups (eg airlines, travel, gaming) would be an advantage •
Experience/knowledge of data protection law and practice would also be an advantage but not a
