With the increasing awareness around intersectionality and its importance, this community-in-focus series of panels on ethnicity explores how our identity combines with ethnicity and the resulting challenges and lived experiences this creates. With a particular focus on Black communities, this discussion will cover topics including:

- What it means to be LGBTQ+ and black

- Identity challenges faced by black communities

- The impact of being out in a black family

- The lived experiences of black communities during Covid-19

Since 2012, I work for ESOMAR, the global professional and trade association for data-driven insights, consumer and market research, and opinion polling. I head up the marketing, communications, public affairs, and professional standards teams and also hold responsibility for several strategic projects for the sector. Previously, I was a Secretary General for a European network promoting the role of the non-profit sector; worked for the North East England regional authorities in Brussels, and was the Secretary to the European Parliament's Intergroup on LGBT Rights. In volunteering capacities, I am part of the political movement Volt and am the Co-Chair of the Volt Values Board for the Belgian chapter and head up European-level diversity and inclusion initiatives for the movement. I volunteer as a Brussels Greeter, an initiative coordinated by the Brussels tourism office. I am also active in the Brussels cycling scene, coordinating one of the largest road cycling groups in the city.

I am also the mom of b/g twins and have so much fun watching them grow. Some things about me: I love all types of music, reading, being outdoors, I am a foodie, love yoga, and spending time with family and friends.
