10 Indonesian Women Arrested Under Suspect of Being Lesbians

Ten women have been arrested in Indonesia under suspicion of being lesbians, reports Reuters.

The women were detained over the weekend in Padong, West Sumatra, according to the local authorities Facebook page.

Head of police, Pol Yadrison, said they had been monitoring the women’s Facebook activity and made the arrests based off pictures that had been posted showing the women  “kissing and cuddling” with other women, as if they were “men and women.”

“From this discovery the officer finally conducted a search and managed to find the identity and whereabouts of the photo uploader,” said Yadrison.

Yadrison added that they’ve received tip offs of LGBT+ activity in the area from locals “almost every day.”

Homosexuality is illegal throughout most of Indonesia.
