An Uber Driver Kicked Out Two Women Because They Are Gay

A Facebook post has shaken the internet after showing a female Uber driver kicking out a lesbian couple because they are gay.

After entering the Uber and on their way to a concert in Camden, New Jersey Kristin Michele and Jean Mangan shared a kiss on the cheek. The Uber driver then immediately told the lesbian couple to get out of the car, one of the women claims.

On her page on Facebook one of the women uploaded a recorded video of the incident.

“I said ‘I don’t understand.’ She said ‘I can’t ride with that. You kissed her,’” Michele said. “She said ‘I won’t have that.’” Michele started recording a video right after that, in which she asks, “Are you kicking me out because I’m gay?” and the driver responds, “Yes, I am. Yes. Get out.”

The driver said she was a Christian woman and “didn’t believe in that,” according to Michele, who then began filming.

The same day the incident was reported to Uber and shortly after she heard from the company.

“Uber does not tolerate discrimination in any form and we have been in contact with this rider,” Grant Klinzman, a spokesperson for the company wrote in an emailed statement to NBC News. “We removed the driver’s access to the app as soon as we were made aware of this incident.”
