Aspect is celebrating International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, and Transphobia
International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, and Transphobia, or IDAHOBIT, is celebrated on Monday 17th May and is a day marked by LGBTQ+ people and their allies across the world. Starting in 2005, it has been used as a tool to raise awareness of LGBTQ+ human rights violations and increase support and interest in LGBTQ+ human rights work. This year’s theme is “Together: Resisting, Supporting, Healing”. We wanted to take this opportunity to introduce you to our LGBTQ+ network group - Aspect’s Chair, Dan Lill and Co-Chairs – Charlotte Bryett and Jodee Hill who will be working ‘Together’ on West Midlands Trains’ LGBTQ+ agenda.

Dan Lill, Chair of Aspect, Senior Conductor
I'm Dan, Aspect’s Chair, 38 gay and single and work as a Senior Conductor for LNR, based at Northampton. I'm also an RMT equality officer. In my spare time I like cooking, relaxing with friends and the Gym and fighting for equality and teaching about LGBTQ+ life and history.
What I would love to achieve from Aspect and our equality groups is education, understanding & equality for all
Jodee Hill, Marketing Executive, Co-Chair of Aspect
Hi, I'm Jodee, Marketing Executive, Co-Chair of Aspect. I have been in a relationship with my partner for 3 years (next month) ... and all good so far! We have recently bought a house together, so most of our time has been painting and decorating.
I enjoy keeping busy, in normal times I love trying new activities and getting out and about, whether that is camping, kayaking, walking, biking etc... I'm there. In a standard day, I like jumping on the Xbox, playing in goal in my friend's weekly 5 aside game and spending time with family and friends (when I can). From Aspect I would like to achieve more people sharing stories and getting involved in internal and external comms, to help spread the word about inclusion and equality. In the end, I want to spread a positive message, meet new people along the way, and have fun.
Charlotte Bryett, Environment and Energy Manager, Co-Chair of Aspect
I'm Charlotte, Energy and Environment Manager, also Co-Chair of Aspect. I am here to help out with Aspect as an Ally to the LGBTQ+ community! As well as being a bit of an environmentalist, I do a lot of work with young people through my involvement with the Royal Air Force Air Cadets and have a passion for ensuring that each generation I work with is as inclusive and understanding as possible! I have loved being involved with Aspect thus far and hearing stories from many within our business and really hope that we can help everyone be part of an open, welcoming and understanding business- looking forward to getting our Ident sorted with Jodee Hill too so we can all spread the love!
I'm a fairly active person and teach paddle sports in cadets also, so if there's water nearby, you'll find me swimming in it! I recently moved into a new home with my partner too and have become a bit of a garden gnome! I love being out there, I now have too many plants to count and about 500 bird feeders!
