Scott Sullivan, HR Director and Charity Trustee, Diversity Role Models at Bates Wells, shared his top tips on how to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community all year round. Discussing the integral role of allyship during Pride, he also offers advice on how to amplify marginalized voices from the community and ensure that authentic representation is achieved.

Promoting inclusivity and celebrating LGBTQ+ individuals throughout the year is crucial for creating an inclusive firm culture. Here are some tips to ensure ongoing support and recognition beyond Pride Month:
1. Implement inclusive policies and benefits: Review existing policies and ensure they are LGBTQ+ inclusive. Offer benefits like equal healthcare coverage for same-sex partners, parental leave for LGBTQ+ families, and gender-neutral facilities. These policies demonstrate commitment to equality and inclusion.
2. Celebrate important LGBTQ+ events and milestones: Beyond Pride Month, commemorate significant LGBTQ+ events such as National Coming Out Day (October 11th) or Transgender Day of Visibility (March 31st). This can include educational sessions, guest speakers, or internal communications to raise awareness and promote inclusivity.
3. Feature LGBTQ+ voices in your communications: Ensure that LGBTQ+ individuals and their stories are represented in your organization's internal and external communications. This can include highlighting LGBTQ+ employees' achievements, featuring diverse perspectives in newsletters, and showcasing LGBTQ+ inclusive marketing campaigns.
4. Support LGBTQ+ causes and charities: Engage in partnerships or sponsorships with LGBTQ+ organizations or community events. This demonstrates your organization's commitment to supporting the broader LGBTQ+ community and fosters goodwill. Diversity Role Models is a great cause, if I do say so myself!
