Bohemian Rhapsody Will Have Queer Content Removed For China Release

The Hollywood Reporter has discovered that key moments from the Oscar winning Freddie Mercury biopic Bohemian Rhapsody will be cut out so as not to show any of the singer’s bisexuality.

Scenes that will be cut include kisses between Mercury (played by Rami Malek) and other men, as well as any drug use.

The film is currently set to have a very limited release in the country, distributed by the National Alliance of Arthouse Cinemas, which is funded by the state-run China Film Archive.

If the run is successful, other Chinese cinemas may pick the film up.
