Cory Booker Addresses Gay Rumours in Runup to 2020 Presidential Election

Presidential hopeful Cory Booker has addressed rumours of his sexual orientation in the lead up to the 2020 election.

Booker has been a staunch LGBT+ supporter throughout his career and has previously refused to clarify his sexuality, saying in 2013 he wanted to “challenge people on their homophobia.”

In an interview with the Philadelphia Inquirer he has finally addressed these rumours: “I’m heterosexual. Every candidate should run on their authentic self, tell their truth, and more importantly, or mostly importantly, talk about their vision for the country.”

“I’m going to run on who I am,” he continued, “whether that’s running for re-election [to the Senate] or running for president.

“I’ve always trusted the voters enough to evaluate me on the content of my character, quality of my ideas, and my ability to do the job.”

Booker has been challenged on his family values before. If elected he would be the first unmarried President since 1884.

“Clearly the norms of family relationships have been changed dramatically as you’ve seen people across this country being elected to offices with all different kinds of family situations, including the president who has had three spouses. So I think a lot of that conventional thought on that doesn’t apply.”
