‘Drag Race’ UK Docu-Series Coming To The BBC

A new RuPaul’s Drag Race UK docuseries is coming to the BBC. Titled ‘God Shave The Queens’, the docuseries consists of eight episodes of behind the scenes fun and drama from the show’s first UK tour after the Season 1 winner was announced.

Filming for the series began just days after The Vivienne was crowned the winner of the first season of the British spinoff. It followed the queens as they went on tour across the UK to cities like London, Manchester, Birmingham, and Newcastle, as ‘Out’ reports.

In addition to The Vivienne, queens Baga Chipz, Scaredy Kat, Gothy Kendoll, Divina De Campo, Sum Ting Wong, Vinegar Strokes, Cheryl Hole, and Blu Hydrangea are also featured. American Drag Race icon Alyssa Edwards also stars in the series, as she was the All Star host of the tour.

According to a synopsis, the series follows our favourite queens as “we meet some of their closest celebrity friends, partners, and get to join them for a big night out. God Shave the Queen allows Drag Race fans to see their favourite queens in a whole new light.”

“I’m so delighted to send my first court of British queens out to the four corners of the realm,” RuPaul said in a statement about the show. He went on to say that the queens will be “spreading their message of light, love and laughter, and sharing their sweet sensitive souls with the people.”

BBC Three Controller Fiona Campbell added that “this series is a peek under the wigs to see what happens after the Drag Race Curtain comes down.” She continued, saying, “Our British Queens have gone down in RuPaul ‘herstory’ and this series is a reminder of why we loved them so much in series 1, and shows us what it takes to be at the top of the game.”

God Shave the Queens will be available to stream on iPlayer later this month, so hold onto your wigs, it’s going to be a wild ride!
