Elliot Page Uses Profile to Ask for Support for Vulnerable Trans People

Oscar-nominated actor Elliot Page, who recently came out as trans via his Instagram, has made his first post since the announcement to thank everyone for the "love and support" they have shown him since he made the announcement on December 1st.

"From the bottom of my heart, thank you", Page wrote on his Instagram, @elliotpage, "Your love and support has been the greatest gift. Stay safe. Be there for each other. If you are able, support @transanta and @translifeline. See you in 2021. xoxo Elliot"

Transanta is an organisation which provides gifts to trans youth anonymously, particularly those rejected by family, and Trans Lifeline is a charity helpline for trans people to seek support and guidance.

After coming out at the start of December, Elliot Page received an outpouring of praise and support from fans and friends across the world, for opening up in an emotional post about embracing who he was. Ever humble, Page also took the time to raise awareness of the barriers trans people face, including violence and discrimination, and urged others to support him in fighting for a more equal society.
