Chelsea footballer Ruben Loftus-Cheek has responded to growing speculation about his sexuality, reports the BBC.
Taking to twitter, he responded to the rumours he’d already come out to his teammates and was preparing a public statement: "Any player who came out as gay, they'd have my full support and respect,” he said. “But the rumour isn't true."
Luftus-Cheek’s tweet has been met with positive responses, with many social media users admiring his “classy reply.”
While there are currently two openly gay footballers (Minnesota United's Collin Martin and Sweden's Anton Hysen) there has never been a currently playing openly gay Premiere League footballer.
