Gay Baseball Player And Country Singer-Songwriter Bryan Ruby Releases New Christmas Carol Dedicated To His Boyfriend
December 30, 2022Gay baseball player Salem-Keizer Volcanoes, who made history as the only active pro baseball player ever to come out has released a new Christmas song this Christmas season, ‘Christmas With You,’ a song and video dedicated to his boyfriend.

As ‘Archy Sport’ writes, it’s about wanting to be with someone special over the holidays and was written as a love letter to Ruby’s boyfriend, Max. It’s a universal sentiment for anyone who’s been estranged from their partner during this time of year, and as Ruby explained, the lyrics were inspired by her career as an LGBTQ+ athlete.
“The song is written from a personal experience. I wrote it when I was on the road for baseball and really missed my boyfriend,” he told Outsports, “He heard it long before the mainstream and ever since I released the song publicly, people tagged me in their videos with the song.”
The sentiments expressed in the ballad are universal, but Ruby emphasised that it was an LGBTQ+ Christmas carol by dedicating the song to Max. Additionally, the music video features a close-up of a rainbow heart ornament with the word “LOVE” on his Christmas tree.
