Groundbreaking Series ‘Pose’ to End with Upcoming Season 3

‘Pose’, a drama television series from the disruptive minds of Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuck and Steven Canals, and distributed by FX, made history back in 2018 by including the largest number of trans people ever seen on network television in its cast and crew. Now, three years after its premiere, the show is coming to an end with a shortened third season, according to co-creator Steven Canals, via Harpers Bazaar.

‘Pose’ explores the drag ball culture scene in New Year in the 80s and 90s which was strongly known for its community of African-American and Latino LGBTQ and gender-nonconforming peers. The show has since received universal acclaim and nominations for numerous accolades. After two successful seasons, the ending of the show was confirmed by creator Canals through his Instagram account.

‘All good things come to an end’, wrote Canals on Friday, March 5. Some members of the cast and crew have since joined the wave in bidding farewell to the show, announcing that the final season will premiere on May 2 and will consist of seven episodes only.

‘Pose’ has become a cultural phenomenon by depicting topics not usually seen on TV, such as HIV among people of color, violence against trans people and discrimination within the workplace. The series has also underlined the amazing talent of its diverse cast, including MJ Rodriguez, Indya Moore, Dominique Jackson and Billy Porter - the latter having one the 2019 Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series.

The third and final season of Pose arrives on May 2 on FX.
