Lady Gaga Apologises for R. Kelly Collaboration: “I’m Sorry for My Poor Judgement”
In the wake of the release of ‘Surviving R. Kelly’ – the 6-part documentary series detailing the sexual abuse wrought by the popular RnB singer – Lady Gaga has addressed the allegations and apologised for collaborating with the singer in 2013, reports the BBC.
Gaga worked on the song “Do What U Want (With My Body)” with R. Kelly, performing it both on SNL and at the AMAs (see above).
In a statement on social media, Gaga wrote: “I stand behind these women 1000%, believe them, know they are suffering and in pain, and feel strongly that their voices should be heard and taken seriously. What I am hearing about the allegations against R. Kelly is absolutely horrifying and indefensible.
“I’m sorry, both for my poor judgement when I was young, and for not speaking out sooner. I love you.”
Gaga revealed in a 2014 interview with Howard Stern that she had been raped at the age of 19. In 2015, she also recorded the Oscar-nominated song “Till it Happens to You” about the experience of sexual assault.
