‘Pose’ Star Turns Heads at Met Gala
Billy Porter once again grabs headlines for his incredible looks on the red carpet, this time at the Met Gala, fashion’s biggest night.
The Pose actor embraced this year’s “camp” theme and came dressed in a gold cat suit, complete with wings and a crown. He was carried into the event by six shirtless men.
“Camp is often used as a pejorative,” Porter told Vogue.
“What I love about having it at the Met Gala, and contextualising camp, is it brings honour to a word and genre that can be discounted very often, or thought of as cheesy. When it’s done properly, it’s one of the highest forms of fashion and art.”
Porter said he was inspired by Elizabeth Taylor’s iconic performance in Cleopatra.
“Billy will be wearing well over a million crystals, beads, and chains!” said designer David Blond.
