Prince Harry And Prince William Praise Gareth Thomas After The Rugby Star Was Forced To Disclose HIV Status

After the news shared by legendary rugby player Gareth Thomas that he is HIV positive, Prince Harry, in a message shared on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s official Instagram account praised the rugby star, describing him as “an absolute legend”.

“In sharing your story of being HIV+, you are saving lives and shattering stigma, by showing you can be strong and resilient while living with HIV,” Prince Harry stated in the caption, which accompanied a photograph of Thomas.

Prince William also shared a message on the official Twitter account for Kensington Palace.

“Courageous as ever – legend on the pitch and legend off it. You have our support Gareth,” Prince William tweeted.

Prince Harry will now partner up with Thomas to work together to raise awareness of HIV and the current methods of treatment, continuing the work his mother, Princess Diana, first did three decades ago.

“Like me, Prince Harry wants to break the stigma around HIV and he has already done a lot of great work. We are planning to work together now. To do something with him will be really powerful” Thomas told the ‘Mirror’.
