Read our story about this year’s digital celebration of pride together with Mary Mac, London’s famous drag queen.
This year took away from us the possibility to physically get together and celebrate Pride near any of our workplaces in Europe, however, we still ran several virtual events where our people met together at a distance. One of the highlights from this summer was a Pride Beer & Bingo hosted for our UK employees by one of the most electric drag queens Mary Mac.
Besides blessing us with a lot of dancing, singing and hosting a fun bingo, Mary Mac also shared her story about her 10 year path. Mary joined the world of drag as a support to her acting career in London. She realized how much she enjoys entertaining people and giving them a sense of fun and escapism.
When she was asked about why she thinks celebrating Pride is important she responded: “Pride to me is being able to show the world, your family, your friends, strangers from all races, genders, sexual identities that if we all treat each other with respect and equality we move forward in the world for everyone, not just for the LGBT+ community but the world in general.” Mary also added: “As a drag queen I have a voice to spread a message of equality, which is key for Pride”.
The night was concluded with a 15 minutes long show and followed by a group cheers with our beloved beers.
