Same-Sex Couple To Make History In Northern Ireland As First LGBT+ Married Couple
A same-sex couple is about to make history in Northern Ireland as the first LGBT+ couple to get married under the new law recognising same-sex marriage.
Sharni Edwards and Robyn Peoples will get married on February 11, the same date they had planned to have a civil partnership but following the recent legalisation of same-sex marriage in Norther Ireland, they decided to get married instead.
“We’re both nervous but very excited,” said Ms. Peoples, according to the ‘Independent’.
“We just can’t believe it’s happening next week. I just want to say thank you to everyone in Northern Ireland who has made this possible for us. Behind the scenes, everyone who’s marched, everyone who’s emailed, petitions, everything.”
