Time for Brave & Inclusive Workplace Cultures

This year, WTW partnered once again with Dive In Festival, to promote 'Building Braver Cultures' in the workplace through candid conversations and discussions on inclusion and diversity (I&D).

The focus of this year’s event was how to create workplace cultures where everybody is encouraged to bring their whole self to work, in a bid to bring diversity of thought and experience to the table. As a long-time partner of Dive In, WTW supported several events throughout the festival worldwide. Key themes explored in this year’s worldwide event, ranged from working parents, allyship, neurodiversity to mental health.

WTW in Italy, for example, organized events on neurodiversity and mental health. Maria Delli Pizzi, the Senior Director for Executive Compensation based in Italy, spoke on neurodiversity at work. The Head of Specialties and Branches in Italy, Maurizio Arecco, spoke on dealing with mental health matters.

WTW in Madrid participated in two panels, one on parenting and the other on mental health during this year's Dive In Festival. myGwork Spain & LatAm’s Managing Director Miguel Garzón accompanied WTW’s Head of Communications and I&D Country Leader Carla Otero de Aresti on the mental health panel.

Commenting on the success of the panel and event, Garzón stated: “Events like Dive In are crucial in the diversity and inclusion space to discuss topics such as how to create safe spaces in the workplace so individuals can bring their authentic and whole selves to work. Organizations are realizing the increasing importance of this, especially given that two-thirds of LGBTQ+ professionals in Spain remain in the closet for fear of discrimination. So creating braver cultures with safe spaces at work are a must if organizations want to retain this invaluable talent."

"WTW Spain was one of the very first companies involved in helping to organize the Dive In Festival. We are hugely proud to be able to actively participate in this 100% insurance-friendly  diversity and inclusion focused event, where we all work with one single objective: to create safe work spaces where everyone can be their authentic selves," shared WTW's Carla Otero de Aresti.

Once again, this year's Dive In provided much food for thought, alongside best practice and great ideas to help create inclusive and brave workplace cultures, for WTW as well as all the companies from the insurance sector attending the event.

WTW has already made some great strides in I&D progress to date. “We started out by establishing local country I&D committees to be fully present in our colleagues’ daily life, through small, but regular events on different topics, like International Women’s Day, Pride, etc. This year, we also introduced committees representing different geographies so we could group representatives of different local networks together. The aim is to share experiences, obstacles, and goals across countries. So, for example, the Mediterranean committee members have jointly decided to focus on disability and gender gaps this year,” concluded WTW’s Head of Mediterranean I&D Council, Andrea Caramia.
