Trump Administration to Launch Initiative to Decriminalise Homosexuality in Every Country

The Trump Administration has announced it will launch a campaign with the sole intention of decriminalising homosexuality across the world, reports NBC News.

The initiative is led by the openly gay US ambassador to Germany Richard Grenell, who has flown in LGBT+ campaigners from across Europe for a meeting on Tuesday (February 19) to discuss decriminalising homosexuality in African and Middle Eastern countries.

“It is concerning that, in the 21st century, some 70 countries continue to have laws that criminalise LGBTI status or conduct,” said an American official for the event.

The initiative will not, however, focus on laws regarding same-sex marriage, adoptions, or discrimination based on sexual orientation – only on decriminalising homosexuality itself.

This initiative has come in response to an Iranian man who was recently hanged for being gay and allegedly kidnapping boys.

“This is not the first time the Iranian regime has put a gay man to death with the usual outrageous claims of prostitution, kidnapping, or even paedophilia. And it sadly won’t be the last time they do it either,” Grenellsaid.

“Barbaric public executions are all too common in a country where consensual homosexual relationships are criminalised and punishable by flogging and death.”
