UFC Fighter Comes Out as Bisexual Following Leaked Private Video

UFC star Jeff Molina has come out as bisexual following the leak of intimate private videos of him with another man. The fighter took to social media to clarify his sexual orientation, and expressed his disappointment at the circumstances with which he was discussing it.

“Welp… this f***ing sucks. TLDR [too long, didn’t read]: I’m bi. Not the way I wanted to do this, but the chance to do it when I was ready was taken away from me,” Molina wrote in a post on Twitter.

I’ve tried to keep my dating life private from social media. I’ve dated girls my whole life and suppressed feelings I had throughout high school being on the wrestling team, throughout college, pursuing MMA, and even after making part of the dream happen and getting into UFC.”

Molina went onto discuss the journey of self-acceptance he took, taking the time to call out the homophobic ideology frequently held by fans of UFC. He wrote that he didn’t expect to be openly part of the LGBTQ+ at this point in his career and sent a message to the online troll who leaked the video, simply stating “I hope it was worth it.”

He finished his statement by thanking his fans and members of the LGBTQ+ community that have defended him and stood by him since the private video was made public. “As much as I am getting hated on, I’m getting an equal amount of support and it means a f**k ton,” he wrote, with a rainbow emoji alongside.

Fans of Jeff Molina responded to the statement with messages of kindness and support, with many calling him brave for addressing the situation head-on. Professional MMA fighter Chris Curtis expressed his admiration and friendship to the star, commenting “The real ones don't care man. Be happy with you and the rest will fall into place. Glad you can finally get it off ya chest. F**k the haters”.

Retired UFC fighter Alan Jouban also tweeted his support for Molina, posting “Hey man, this took a lot of courage to post. Props to you, don’t let it define who you are as a fighter,” to which Molina responded, “Appreciate you brotha".

Despite the unfortunate circumstances in which Molina was outed, this also marks a milestone moment in LGBTQ+ sports. The star now holds the title of the first ever male openly LGBTQ+ UFC fighter, helping to pave the way for other LGBTQ+ figures in an industry and fanbase described by Molina himself as homophobic.
