Watch Sam Smith And Munroe Bergdorf In Queer Version Of The ‘Queens Speech’
Sam Smith and Munroe Bergdorf are just two of the LGBT+ celebrities to star in an “alternative Qweens speech” aimed at celebrating “all queer bodies”, reports the ‘Independent’.
In the short film, the cast reflects on some of the most important LGBT+ moments of 2019.
“We’ve continued to shatter the shackles surrounding same sex love and this year,” Gareth Pugh says as an example. “Northern Ireland finally passed equal marriage.”
Sam Smith adds, “Celebrating all queer bodies, whatever form they take. Redefining the rules so there is space for those whose identity cannot be defined by the confines of he or she.”
Bergdorf, adds: “Britain. What a year it’s been. And what a decade! We’ve come so far. Fought so fiercely and reshaped the world to include us in it. Breaking down stale traditions and crafting a tomorrow that is fairer and safer for all.”
“We came together to develop the concept of deconstruction,” ACNE executive producer Jack Howard explains, “deconstructing traditions, deconstructing the patriarchy, deconstructing queendom”.
