WTW Partners With Dive In Festival to Promote #BraverCultures in the Workplace

As a global leader in the insurance sector, WTW has partnered once again with Dive In Festival to promote much-needed inclusion and diversity (I&D) in the industry.

WTW, which has been involved with the festival since its early days, has witnessed a shift from just conversations on diversity and inclusion to converting these discussions into actions. However, like many industries, the insurance sector still lacks diversity, including people of differing ethnicities, socio-economic backgrounds, abilities, and so on, to fully reflect the diversity of its customers.

The three-day global event, taking place later this month, invites everyone in the industry to meet and champion change in this space together. The focus of this year’s annual festival is promoting #BraverCultures in the workplace. The aim is to build cultures where everybody is encouraged to bring their whole self to work, in a bid to bring their diversity of thought and experience to the table.

As a long-time partner of Dive In, WTW will once again be supporting several events throughout the festival. “After many years of embracing common I&D values, we have now decided to take a step forward and become a primary partner,” explained WTW’s Head of Mediterranean I&D Council, Andrea Caramia. “From the very beginning, we espoused Lloyd’s idea that our sector needs an evolution. The Dive In Festival has proven to be the perfect social platform for that, and for companies to meet, confront challenges, and evolve.”

Being a sponsor allows WTW to “participate in strategic groups and better reach both clients and colleagues to make things happen,” shared Caramia. “Our goal is to help make I&D values come alive, both internally at WTW and externally.”

Creating safe work cultures is a key topic that will be explored in this year’s worldwide event. “WTW in Italy will be organizing two events. One will focus on neurodiversity to discover the hidden strengths of neurodivergent employees because we believe that they should be recognized for bringing great value to companies,” he explained. “The other will focus on mental health, which we will discuss through the famous TV series The Office, as it is a great way to reach a broader audience for sensitive topics such as mental health.”

Many of WTW’s colleagues will be speaking throughout this year’s event. “We always try to involve new colleagues every year as panelists from different roles and departments across our organization. They usually tend to be I&D advocates for their areas of business,” shared Caramia. “This year, for example, Maria Delli Pizzi, our Senior Director for Executive Compensation, will speak on neurodiversity. And our Head of Specialties and Branches, Maurizio Arecco, will speak on mental health matters.”

WTW has already made some great strides in I&D progress to date. “We started out by establishing local country I&D committees to be fully present in our colleagues’ daily life, through small, but regular events on different topics, like International Women’s Day, Pride, etc. This year, we also introduced committees representing different geographies so we could group representatives of different local networks together. The aim is to share experiences, obstacles, and goals across countries. So, for example, the Mediterranean committee members have jointly decided to focus on disability and gender gaps this year,” Caramia added.

WTW is looking forward to seeing more professionals attend this year’s event. "We are always proud to see increased participation from professionals at WTW and other companies in the sector. This leads to broader discussions and different perspectives on the table. We hope this year will confirm this trend and also represent the occasion to meet in person,” concluded Caramia.
