About Us:
Aardman, based in Bristol (UK) and co-founded in 1976 by Peter Lord and David Sproxton, is an independent and multi-award-winning studio. It produces feature films, series, advertising, interactive entertainment and attractions for both the domestic and international market. Their productions are novel, entertaining, brilliantly characterised and full of charm reflecting the unique talent, energy and personal commitment of the Aardman team. The studio’s work is often imitated and yet the company continues to lead the field producing a rare brand of visually stunning content for cinema, broadcasters, digital platforms and live experiences around the world.
In November 2018, Aardman became an Employee Owned organisation, ensuring that the studio remains independent and securing the creative legacy and culture of the company for the future.
Aardman is the creative home of some of the world's most beloved animated characters:
"Wallace & Gromit": the Oscar-winning inventor and his long-suffering dog
"Shaun the Sheep": beloved worldwide across film, TV, and live experiences
"Chicken Run": Aardman's first feature film, and its record-breaking sequel
"Morph": the original Aardman character, co-created with the BBC
"The Very Small Creatures": from Morph's universe, our BAFTA-winning pre-school series
"Creature Comforts": Oscar-winning animated documentary series
The works of Aardman have received numerous awards and nominations, the major awards won include the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature and BAFTA Award for Best British Film for Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit.
Both Peter Lord and David Broxton were knighted in Charles III 2026 Birthday Honours "for services to the creative industries and to charity".
