That isn’t limited to the firm's culture but also includes the best work, clients, career prospects and development opportunities. Central to that is the quality of our training and our commitment to ongoing professional development.

Diversity and inclusion is taken seriously at BCLP by our people at every level. We need to be diverse in order to be innovative and our clients are increasingly demanding us to be leaders in this respect. To be actively inclusive is more than simply ‘not discriminating’. It is about truly valuing everyone for who they are and celebrating their individuality.
Diversity & Inclusion at BCLP:

At BCLP, we work with our colleagues and our clients to bring diversity and inclusivity into every aspect of our work and culture, fostering an environment where everybody feels valued, motivated and able to be themselves. While we recognise that we are on a journey and the work is not done, we are proud of the progress we have made so far and we are steadfast in our commitment to promote and sustain an open, inclusive and supportive working environment.
BCLP’s Global Diversity & Inclusion Board is responsible for shaping the strategic direction of diversity across the firm. The board comprises partners and leaders from Germany, Hong Kong, UAE, the US and the UK. Reporting directly to BCLP’s Board and Co-Chairs, the Global Diversity & Inclusion Board’s remit is mapped across four pillars: Inclusive Culture; Leadership Accountability; Talent Pipeline and Community Engagement.
In the UK we have a number of active diversity networks, for disability, family, gender representation, LGBTQ*, mental health and social inclusion and ethnicity. Our diversity networks ensure those from marginalised groups have a voice – raising awareness and understanding across our firm of what it can feel like if you are in the minority. Our networks actively inform and shape our approach to diversity, empowering members with an opportunity to develop new skills and to create connections with senior figures or those in different parts of our business.
LGBTQ* Inclusion at BCLP:

Advocacy: BCLP are signatories of the UN’s Global LGBTI Standards of Conduct for Business. We have founded and actively participate in a range of cross firm and cross industry initiatives and networking groups. We are proud to have:
- Spearheaded LGBTQ* recruitment initiatives DiversCity and AuthentiCity aimed at LGBTQ* students looking to start a career in the City
- Initiated a cross firm LGBTQ* mentoring scheme supported by Stonewall and the SRA, providing support and guidance to smaller, regional firms
- Initiated and co-founded cross industry network Wave, aimed at junior LGBTQ* professionals looking to develop their careers
In addition, our Global LGBTQ* Co-Chair Daisy Reeves is among the founding members of LBTQWomen, a global network designed to inspire, inform and celebrate the success of Lesbian, Bi, Trans and Queer Women.
Best practice: We strive to ensure our approach to LGBTQ* inclusion both meets best practice and influences next practice. We are proud members of Stonewall’s Diversity Champions programme and we regularly share insights and advice with our clients and peer firms. BCLP ranks 2nd in Stonewall’s UK Workplace Equality Index and has earned a 100 per cent score and designation as a Best Place to Work for LGBTQ* Equality on the 2019 (US) Corporate Equality Index.
Education and engagement:We hold regular events both for LGBTQ* network members and for the broader firm. Recent speakers include the Inclusive Mosque Initiative, Mara Keisling (National Centre for Trans Equality) and Global Butterflies. We actively mark and celebrate key dates in the LGBTQ* calendar and hold an annual Pride Party and festive LGBTQ* Allies reception each year.
Allies: BCLP are committed to supporting LGBTQ* colleagues, wherever they are in the world. We launched a Global LGBTQ* Allies Network in December 2018. This network has since connected almost 600 BCLP colleagues across all four corners of the globe.
