myGwork celebrates LBTI+ women at Madrid event

Last week, myGwork celebrated "LBTI+ Women: Visible and Incredible" in Madrid, ahead of Lesbian Visibility Day and Week.

The event, held at The Social Hub Madrid on April 17th, aimed to spotlight the intersectional challenges faced by LBTI+ women in various spheres. It was hosted in collaboration with leading organizations such as EuroCentralAsian Lesbian Community (EL*C), Lesworking, The Social Hub Madrid, and Suma Content, with sponsorship from LELO.

Aina Calvo, Spain's Secretary of State for Equality, welcomed the guests and opened the event together with myGwork's Michelle Raymond and Miguel Garzón. The event featured a panel and networking sessions alongside a celebration of publicly recognized and socially committed LBTI+ women. Moderated by Spanish journalist and LGBTQ+ activist, Daniela Requena, panel speakers included:

  • Wendy Drukier, Ambassador of Canada to Spain and Andorra.
  • Mer Gómez, writer and intersex activist.
  • Alma Gormedino, actress from the cast of 'Vestidas de Azul,' LGBTQ+ activist, and visible trans person.
  • Mónica Muñoz, angel investor and champion LGBTQ+.

Attendees had the opportunity to engage with these trailblazers, gaining insights into their journeys and experiences navigating professional landscapes while openly embracing their sexual orientation and/or gender identity. The event also featured a "Hall of Fame" highlighting publicly recognized and socially committed LBTI+ women, alongside representative flags and organizational support, enhancing their public visibility and social commitment to the community.

The event served as a platform for elevating the visibility and resilience of LBTI+ women, fostering inspiration and solidarity within the community. After the panel, attendees enjoyed a networking session, accompanied by drinks and food, with a music set provided by Rocío Saiz.
