2D/3D Design Engineer

DESCRIPTION:

The WWDE CAD team is looking for a 2D and 3D Design Engineer who is able to understand technical problems at sub system and system levels while working directly with all levels of designers and Industrial Design Engineers. The 2D/3D Design Engineer must ensure that provided solutions are scalable and compatible with all existing designing platforms at Amazon.

The ability to work within and across large, independent teams is a must, so the right person will have an implicit understanding of the balance needed between design creativity, technical development, communication and partnership. The role will entail working with ambiguous directions and various technical details to create models that showcase possible technologies on sub system and system levels. Models will vary in level of details, ranging from shop level drawings to high-level models showing innovative technologies.



Key job responsibilities
· Creation of 2D and 3D models/layouts using Autodesk AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, Autodesk Revit and Factory Design Utilities.
· Creation of presentations of models and 2D/3D layouts, including collages, videos and VR.
· Provide front-line support and development of tools and procedures to extend enhance existing workflows.
· Optimizing our 3D content creation for both quality and scalability, including reconciling our development goals with our approach to 3D.
· Identifying opportunities to develop standard work practices for 2D and 3D workflows.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or other STEM field.
- 2+ years of experience in a fast paced design environment.
- 1+ year of AutoCAD experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- Proficiency with Autodesk Inventor, Autodesk Revit and/or Factory Design Utilities.
- Familiarity with Twin motion, and/or Navisworks Manage.
- Experience with parametric solid modeling.
- Exposure to layouts that utilize material handling equipment.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with ambiguous direction.
- Ability to establish priorities, work independently or within a group, and work with minimal supervision.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $62,700/year in our lowest geographic market up to $157,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
