Rack Layout Designer, DC Design Engineering

Are you an experienced Rack Layout designer with a passion for BIM/CAD? Are you a creative, smart and driven individual that enjoys working with complex projects within a team environment? If this is you, we want YOU on our team!

You will be a part of a highly creative and efficient rack layout design team, tasked with designing challenging and complex projects with innovative solutions for Amazon owned data center facilities. You will produce and deliver our internal data center design packages to our various stakeholders and customers, support business-critical BIM/CAD-database processes using our internal tools, and support design and template development for continued improvement efforts.

Key job responsibilities
Daily responsibilities will include planning, creating and updating server room design packages for AWS Data Centers. Design packages depict planned rack locations, cooling and power sources, cages, mantraps, and other equipment within a server room. You must be able to work independently and work within a team environment to accomplish assigned tasks. This includes working with internal groups as well as external teams. Your duties will include:
• Manage and create design of data center white space which includes rack layout, hot/cold containment, network infrastructure, branch circuit distribution, power requirements, cable pathway, and projected build phases.
• Preparing highly detailed and accurate Revit 3D models and 2D AutoCAD drawings of server rooms showing all equipment, racks, cabling, power, cooling, and spatial details
• Publishing rack layout design documentation in a fast-paced environment to meet deliverable deadlines
• Participate in project coordination meetings, and clearly communicate any necessary or recommended updates to project scheduling

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• 5+ years of design/engineering of producing construction drawings for mission critical facilities.
• 4+ years consistent Revit and AutoCAD experience
• Practical knowledge and understanding of Data Center designs such as rack placement, power and cooling, raised floors, containment, security.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD).
• Experience directly related to Data Center design and construction.
• Experience with creating LISP and Dynamo scripting.
• Experience in BMS/EPMS control systems.
• Experience driving a team to implement new BIM tools, procedures, best practices.
• Meets/exceeds Amazon's Leadership Principles requirements for this role.
• Meets/exceeds Amazon's Functional/Technical depth and complexity for this role.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $77,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
