Our team works with commercial partners to create engaging and compelling content campaigns designed with the BBC's desirable American and global audience in mind. Our custom content solutions amplify advertisers' key messaging strategies while aligning with passion-driven BBC.com News and Features brands including BBC Worklife, BBC Culture, BBC Future, BBC Travel, BBC Sport, and Top Gear. In addition, we enable sponsorships of our world-class editorial output, creating an alignment for our partners with the BBC's trusted editorial voice.

The Position

The Senior Creative Strategist, StoryWorks at BBC StoryWorks Americas will work closely with BBC Global News Ltd.'s editorial, sales, and product development teams to craft distinctive, multiplatform content programs tailored to all BBC.com brands, targeting clients in the US, Canada, and Latin America. We seek an ideal candidate with a robust editorial background, a fervor for discovering cutting-edge digital storytelling methods and platforms, and a proficient grasp of digital advertising and the RFP (Request for Proposal) process.

We're seeking a dynamic Senior Creative Strategist to drive bespoke content programs, collaborate with 2 global teams, and spearhead impactful partnerships. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Generate innovative concepts for bespoke content programs aimed at attracting new commercial partners while fostering recurring business for BBC Global News Ltd.
  • Formulate content strategy briefs and pitch decks tailored to effectively communicate the creative vision of our content initiatives to potential partners, both in response to RFPs and through proactive pitches.
  • Collaborate with BBC News editorial teams to identify and expand new sponsorship opportunities for advertising partners.
  • Collaborate with the Project Management team to devise scalable program strategies, budgets, and timelines to optimize the success of new content concepts.
  • Conduct strategic analysis of the competitive digital media landscape, utilizing insights to further distinguish BBC StoryWorks offerings in the Americas.
  • Support the professional development of junior team members by engaging in brainstorming sessions, providing proposal feedback, sharing industry best practices, and offering mentorship.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of resources such as case studies, talent lists, and third-party tools utilized throughout our operational processes.

Relationships

  • Collaborate extensively with the North America StoryWorks creative strategy team, comprising members based in the US and Canada, engaging in brainstorming sessions, pitch development, RFP responses, presentations, and other content-related partnership opportunities.
  • Partner with the research team to incorporate data-driven insights into our content strategy, ensuring that our programs align with the key performance indicators (KPIs) most relevant to our partners.
  • Coordinate closely with ad sales counterparts to devise content strategies that seamlessly align with client campaign objectives and goals.
  • Forge strong partnerships with the editorial team to uphold BBC's esteemed editorial standards and editorial independence, particularly during pitches and sponsorship endeavors.
  • Leverage collaboration with BBC StoryWorks global counterparts in London, Singapore, and Australia to exchange best practices and glean valuable insights from content campaigns executed worldwide.
  • Engage with other cross-functional teams such as marketing, ad operations, and third-party companies (production, writers, etc.) as necessary to support and enhance our content initiatives.
The Person

Proficiencies and Comprehensive grasp of:

  • Digital media landscape
  • Digital RFP process
  • Innovative digital storytelling platforms (AR, VR, Voice UI, etc.)
  • Social media distribution strategies
  • Capacity to generate ideas swiftly under pressure
  • Exceptional time management for juggling multiple projects concurrently
  • Aptitude for mentoring junior team members, spanning from deck creation to client interaction
  • Reverence for the significance of independent news and editorial integrity

Required Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of professional experience, preferably in digital publishing, branded content, or advertising
  • Familiarity with branded content's role within advertising campaigns

Desired Qualifications:

  • Background or interest in marketing, brand strategy, creative writing/English, or journalism is advantageous.
  • Exposure to article, video, or interactive content production is beneficial
  • Exposure to TV or event marketing is advantageous
  • Possesses a delightful sense of humor, self-drive, and adeptness in both collaborative and autonomous work environments
  • Exhibits an inquisitive nature, eager to comprehend diverse client needs and industry landscapes
Compensation and Benefits

The anticipated annual base salary for this position is $80-90k. This does not include bonus or other benefits that an individual may be eligible for. The actual base salary offered depends on the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and geographic location of the position.

Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of 2 days per week.
