About the role

We are seeking a Head of Strategic Partnerships, an experienced leader who can help unlock the full potential of our key initiatives through business relationships and partnerships. This individual will work closely with Product, Engineering and Commercial teams to enable these partnerships, including partner identification, negotiation, planning and execution. They will be a key driver of translating these partnerships into business results. This position will report to our Head of Ads Strategy, M&A, & PMO.

This is a critical role within the organization. The ideal candidate will operate at a high level of intellectual curiosity, exhibit superior strategic capabilities, demonstrate a strong work ethic, and bring a proven ability to work with and lead teams. They will have the maturity, confidence, intellectual strengths, and real-world experience to lead and inspire a team of smart and driven professionals. This candidate must have a passion for understanding and serving the unique community of eBay users.


  • Lead Strategic Partnerships for the Ads business unit as well as its parent Core Product organization

  • Develop frameworks and conduct analyses to evaluate and prioritize potential partnerships for the organization to pursue

  • Identify opportunities, lead the development of key business initiatives, and coordinate with eBay stakeholders during implementation

  • Contribute to Ebay leadership’s assessment of strategic build / buy / partner options (aligning inorganic vs organic initiatives)

  • Synthesize the full scope of eBay and partners’ businesses and strategic goals to maximize the potential of these partnerships, driving optimal commercial outcomes for both sides

  • Drive partnership discussions and manage executive relationships and integrations with strategic partners

  • Structure agreements and term-sheets for business-critical partnerships as well as manage implementation and ongoing operations


  • 12+ years of work experience in business development or strategic partnerships with MBA preferred

  • Consulting and/or strategy experience (preferably within eCommerce)

  • Demonstrated track record of negotiating product enablement or partnership deals, with a strong viewpoint on how partnerships can create value and differentiation

  • Experience partnering with B2B/B2C companies (e.g. consumer technology companies, eCommerce and social marketplaces, emerging technology companies)

  • Strategic problem solver with the ability to transform goals into significant partnership plans and adapting them to changing business conditions

  • Ability to form and communicate technical, financial and strategic value points and trade-offs with eBay teams and partners

  • Outstanding strategic acumen and analytical skills, with strong attention to detail
