Senior Frontend Developer

Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) at eBay is a fun and challenging environment, where every day you will be finding solutions for eBay’s global scale and unique breadth of inventory.

eBay’s SEO team are recognised as industry leaders, regularly piloting the latest initiatives in collaboration with the world’s largest search engines, and pioneering new techniques and ways of working. 

This role is crucial for ensuring that the eBay’s most valuable pages are found by search engines, and appear in their results for the most appropriate queries. You’ll get to work on the fundamentals of SEO technology like robots.txt, sitemaps.xml and metadata as well as new and leading edge projects.

Your huge impact in this role

You will participate and contribute to major development applications and components which process hundreds of millions of messages each day, and answer more than 1 billion requests in a very short SLA. This is your way to make a direct impact on eBay’s site.

In addition, you will be responsible for high quality development of Java applications that integrate with backend systems; High quality design and implementation knowledge; Documentation of code and systems; and Support of production applications.

What shall you bring to the table?

If you have experience with clean code, design patterns, code quality and open source technologies, we’ll be more than happy to see the following competencies as well:

  • 4+ years’ experience in UI development in Javascript/NodeJS

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science BSc

  • Experience in HTML, CSS, or any scripting language

  • Experience in building adaptive, responsive UX for multi-screen experiences

  • Experience with any HTML templating frameworks such as AngularJS, ReactJS, etc

  • Experience with OO design and design patterns.

  • Experience with client-server architecture to make UI responsive to service responses

  • Experience in building services/applications in Javascript/NodeJS etc.

  • Experience in working with agile development methodologies

  • Team player committed to improvements through peer-review and design reviews

  • Ability to coach junior developers

  • Flexibility and passion to learn new technologies.

Well, the following competencies would be a great advantage:

  • Major experience in building shareable/reusable UI modules

  • Experience with MarkoJS

  • Experience building accessibility-friendly UI

  • Experience in improving speed-metrics

  • Experience in client-side automated testing

  • Experience in UNIX/Shell commands
