Quality Engineering Lead - Supply Chain Technology (Hybrid)

We have an exciting opportunity for a hybrid Quality Engineering Lead to join the Ferguson team, focused on Supply Chain Technology! This is a senior role on the IT Quality Management team that has overall accountability for the quality and performance of the services within their domain. The ideal candidate will be able to ensure that end-to-end solutions meet the quality standards and requirements of the supply chain.

In this role, you will be a part of the planning, execution, and reporting of testing activities inclusive of defining the strategy for testing, budgeting, and resourcing and has shared accountability of the solutions and business outcomes. The scope of the Quality Engineering Lead role is the end-to-end solutions that support all the activities in the warehouse. This includes all software, physical hardware, end user devices, material handling equipment, and integrations to 3rd party solutions.

**This is a Hybrid role based out of Newport News, VA, in accordance with Ferguson's Flex schedule; 3 days office / 2 days remote.**


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Accountability for the test strategy, scope, objectives, and deliverables for each project, in alignment with the Supply Chain goals and quality standards.
  • Plan and coordinate the testing activities, such as test design, test execution, test automation, test reporting, and test closure.
  • Overall ownership and management of the test resources, budget, and schedule.
  • Responsible for the development and approval of the test artifacts, such as test plans, test cases, test scripts, test data, and test reports.
  • Collaborate tightly with the product team and Supply Chain during all phases of the testing lifecycle, to include but not limited to requirements/design reviews, test case reviews/signoff, and defect remediation.
  • Responsible for the test environment, test tools, and test data strategy and management to ensure availability and reliability.
  • Lead the test execution in alignment to the shared outcomes and quality standards.
  • Analyze test results, prioritize defects, and work with the product team and Supply Chain on disposition and resolution.
  • Track and report on the test metrics and quality indicators, such as test coverage, defect density, defect severity, defect resolution, etc.
  • Leads all User Acceptance Testing (UAT) activities in coordination with the product team and Supply Chain inclusive of on-site UAT for new buildings.
  • Provide a monthly Quality report across the testing process, UAT, and Production.
  • Evaluate the test outcomes, provide feedback and recommendations, and ensure the quality and satisfaction of the product team and Supply Chain.
  • Lead, mentor, and coach the test team, and provide input[BM1] to performance reviews and appraisals.
  • Conduct quality audits, reviews, and assessments, and implement best practices and improvements for testing processes and standards.
  • Stay updated on the operational processes, latest trends, technologies, tools and provide training and guidance to the test team.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Supply Chain, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in software testing, including functional, non-functional, integration, regression, performance, security, and usability testing.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience working in Supply Chain.
  • Strong knowledge of all end-to-end processes.
  • Knowledge of automated warehousing systems and robotic technologies is preferred.
  • Proficiency in test automation tools, frameworks, and methodologies, such as Selenium, TestNG, JUnit, Cucumber, Jenkins, etc.
  • Knowledge of software development methodologies, such as Agile, Scrum, Kanban, etc., and the role of testing in each phase.
  • Ability to design, develop, and maintain test plans, test cases, test scripts, test data, and test reports.
  • Ability to analyze test results, identify defects, track issues, and report on test metrics and quality indicators.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with developers, operators, management, and other team members, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to lead, mentor, and motivate the test team, and foster a collaborative and quality-oriented culture that is aligned with the team's objectives.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as in a team, and manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Ability to learn new technologies, tools, and domains quickly and adapt to changing requirements and environments.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • Assertive and proactive.
  • Will be located at the corporate office or approved Distribution Center/Market Distribution Center.

Estimated Ranges displayed are Monthly for Salaried roles OR Hourly for all other roles.
