Job Description

Associate Director, Biostatistics, Oncology

In this key role, you will direct internal and external teams across multi-functional projects or functional areas. You'll lead initiatives to gather, organize, and analyze data from different sources such as virology, Case Report Forms, and patient tracking. As an Associate Director, you'll also work with management and Human Resources to satisfy short-term and long-term staffing needs.

What Will You Do?

You will oversee and contribute to the completion of all technical and operational statistical activities for clinical trials in our ONCOLOGY group.

You will work collaboratively with cross functional teams including Clinical Research, Clinical Pharmacologist, Statistical Programmers, Clinical Data Managers, Global Drug Safety, Regulatory and Project Management teams to meet project deliverables and timelines for statistical data analysis and reporting.

You will provide SENIOR LEVEL review of various technical documents and also offer advice to others within Gilead to help make better decisions and resolve problems.

AND dependent on experience, you may directly manage contractors and/or full-time Biostatisticians.

What We'd Like to see in You:

  • Solid clinical trial experience in any therapeutic area, although Oncology would be a huge plus!
  • Strong statistical methodology including clinical trial design, analysis, multiplicity, etc.
  • Knowledge of regulatory guidelines on drug development.
  • Proven leadership skills - both project and people management. Can you pull together highly effective teams and create a clear sense of direction?
  • The ability to examine issues from various perspectives and apply appropriate concepts to address situations.
  • Strategic ability to determine the functions most critical to our company success and to support priorities within the functional area.
  • Capabilities to address obstacles and difficulties in order to meet goals.
  • Ability to effectively represent Biostatistics at multidisciplinary meetings.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills and interpersonal skills.

Knowledge, Experience & Skills:

  • 9+ years of industry experience in the statistical analysis of biomedical data using SAS® and a BS degree in Biostatistics or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of industry experience in the statistical analysis of biomedical data using SAS® and an MS degree in Biostatistics or equivalent
  • 3+ years of industry experience in the statistical analysis of biomedical data using SAS® with PhD degree in Biostatistics or equivalent
