Job Description

Gilead seeks a Director, Worldwide-Infrastructure Organization (WIO). You are the Leader ensuring the Company’s infrastructure and its services are up and running meeting pre-defined SLA’s. This role focuses on keeping users satisfied with the company's services, ensuring that daily IT operations and service delivery are properly executed

Purpose of the Job

  • Strategy and Planning – Runs activities relative to IT Plan including application portfolio management, data security, disaster recovery requirements, and availability and fail-over capability of systems. Stays abreast of operational performance and impact to business.
  • Relationship Management - Initiates and maintains key relationships with customers to ensure processes are integrated to support customer expectations. Communicates effectively with business peers, IT peers and vendors to tackle business/technical problems and provide technical solutions. Drives resolution of key customer concerns quickly and effectively.
  • Application, Infrastructure, and/or Network Support - Ensures delivery and support occurs effectively and efficiently. Drives quick resolution of issues in partnership with the support teams. Furthers enterprise systems life cycle management to ensure a current and cost-effective portfolio. Ensure that enterprise systems transition seamlessly from project, to production.
  • Resource Management - Provides guidance, leadership and mentoring. Develops resource plans to ensure optimum support for projects and day-to-day operation. Conducts performance reviews, provides input to pay decisions and implements positive discipline measures when necessary.
  • Regulatory Support - Anticipates, and responds to organizational and regulatory initiatives. Must understand and implement necessary procedures required to facilitate completion of operational changes. Serves as key respondent to all application audits.
  • Business and Technology Acumen - Stays abreast of industry and technology trends to provide advice on strategic business and technology solutions.

Essential Duties and Job Functions:

To ensure that appropriate and up to date controls, processes, documentation and procedures are in place and followed. To champion IT Service Delivery in projects, developing a solid understanding of projects impacting on IT service provision, and ensure impact is agreed and minimized. To be accountable for the quality of service and performance. To drive internal and third-party service review meetings covering performance, service improvements, quality and processes. To make recommendations for Service Improvement Plans and ensure actions are followed through to completion in a timely manner. To work with other internal and third-party teams to ensure actions are taken and completed to protect and improve services. To provide regular and accurate management reporting on service performance against SLA’s and critical metrics. To lead all operations related to IT infrastructure and service delivery. To understand business cycles, you will ensure that recurring business process run smoothly.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor or Masters’ degree in IT Management, Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 7 years experiences in enterprise systems support experience demonstrating a high level of responsibility supporting corporate application, infrastructure, and/or network.
  • Confirmed ability for independent decision-making, supporting large customer groups, and providing guidance and direction to very visible projects.
  • Demonstrable ability to assume higher level leadership roles, and responsibilities in critical situations.
  • Proven ability to support high-demand business solutions using IT as a tool.
  • Track record working in a dynamic, highly iterative environment.
  • Have excellent IT technical skills on server storage, network, server virtualization, and disaster recovery.
  • Experience leading consultants for sustainment; and ensuring quality of work.
  • Experience on GxP applications (and good Documentation Practices) and working in SOX audited environments is a plus.
  • Good listener: persistently listen to understand service needs.
  • Communication: ability to communicate complex solutions and value in business terms.
  • Experience in Life Sciences is helpful.
