Product & Portfolio Pricing & Market Access Director

In this role you will use your expertise in pricing and market access, especially applied in high-visibility / time sensitive areas such as business development and licensing, to ensure that we are designing and executing the correct development strategies to add value to our molecules, and successfully secure milestone driven funding.

Spanning health economics, science, clinical practice, strategy and marketing, the PPSPD is responsible for leading the input of price, coverage and assumptions for other access inputs into commercial forecasts, asset valuations and business cases for our development portfolio.

The PPSPD is accountable for ensuring that payer customer evidence needs are reflected in the key claims for assets in our pipeline.

Additionally, the PPSPD supports the optimization of portfolio investment decisions by ensuring that the price, coverage and other access assumptions in asset valuations are insight based and provide an accurate assessment of the commercial opportunity.

Along with the PPAID, you are responsible for using the business case to ensure alignment between the target medicine profile (TMP), key claims, clinical development plans (CDP) and major internal and external risks, opportunities and uncertainties for our portfolio assets.

Through a combination of rigorous analytics and scenario analyses, the PPPD will influence the early development team to optimize the CDP and critical path, proposing hedging and gating strategies where appropriate.

You will be a key member of a team responsible for championing the needs of patients and payers in our early development projects and shaping and accelerating the milestone driven transfer of our pipeline molecules (excluding the oncology therapy area) from the Research Investment Board (RIB) portfolio to the Pharma Investment Board (PIB) portfolio.

You will be accountable for ensuring that the pricing and market access strategies driving the business cases and investment strategies for our pipeline assets accurately, transparently and fully reflect internal and external data, assumptions, ambiguities, risks and opportunities.

By using the strategic tools and analytics resources available to you, along with your own broad expertise and previous experience in areas such as business development and licensing, you will be responsible for influencing the early development team (EDT) to optimize development and investment strategies required to add value to our pipeline.

•Develop robust, evidence-based pricing and market access assumptions for pipeline medicines as they progress through development milestones and governance decision points in GSK
•Define, structure, plan and commission payer research required to answer questions not already addressed through internal knowledge and experience and/or secondary data sources, ensure all market insight activities are conducted in an ethical way and according to relevant Codes of Conduct
•Contribute to the formulation of product strategy, in partnership with PPSD, PPCID and PPAID to ensure that development strategies are optimized subject to the relevant internal and external constraints.
•Provide pricing and market access landscapes and therapy areas overviews and situation analyses to support strategy and trade off decisions across the development portfolio
•Provide pricing and market access assessments for business development opportunities, identify sensitivities and key areas of uncertainty in the assumptions informing the forecast and communicate these risks appropriately to senior management, providing broad context and foresight
•Develop a compelling payer value proposition and key claims analysis with aligned pricing and reimbursement strategies
•Partner with Health Outcome and Clinical teams to align the Integrated Evidence Plan with the evidence needs of key payer customers
•Lead the input of price, coverage and other access inputs into their commercial forecasts, business cases and asset valuations
•Support PPSL in making trade-offs between payer and provider evidence requirements from key markets
•Outline access and reimbursement assumptions and scenarios as an input to forecast model, decision points, and portfolio strategy development
•Identify non-asset opportunities to enhance the value proposition for different healthcare systems / payer segments

Why You?Basic qualifications:
•Post-graduate degree in health economics and/or MBA - Business or Finance or Economics or Marketing
•Proven expertise in strategic pricing and market access.
•Proven experience of asset and portfolio forecasting and valuation
•Experienced in healthcare, in pharmaceutical (medical or marketing background), management consultancy or financial institution.
•Thorough conceptual understanding of the drug development and commercialization process.
•Experienced in a global matrix environment, able to drive impact across a range of functions, seniority, and geographical locations.
•Ability to lead the delivery of projects from end to end and take ownership and accountability for the deliverables

Preferred qualifications:
•Experience of business development, forecasting/ financial modeling, strategic planning and market research, competing intelligence, strategic decision making and investment support (e.g. consulting biotech or venture capital).
•Experience in working with individuals in countries, working with them to obtain appropriate country-level information and insight
