Senior Manager, R&D Procurement, Safety Assessment

Are you interested in ensuring the critical supply of Safety Assessment outsourcing services for pharmaceutical drug discovery and development?

This position is essential in delivering the GSK R&D pipeline and to manage GSK product lifecycles. You will be responsible for a Safety Assessment outsourcing services spend of £35m-£40m globally covering Toxicology, Discovery DMPK and ADME outsourcing services across our Pharma, Vaccines and Consumer businesses and you will demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of the market actors, their capabilities and capacities.

The role will involve the development and execution of sourcing strategies supporting both functional and therapeutic business areas. These will require internal business requirements building, external market intelligence assessment and strategic spend management recommendations to identify cost savings and create future value. Implementation will include supplier performance management to deliver the financial and non-financial benefits.

Your Responsibilities
• Develop full scale category strategies for Safety Assessment services and execute outsourcing strategies for spend categories in scope of responsibility aligned with the requirements of stakeholders and business partners
• Define and implement a risk base approach to enhance assurance of supply
• Build strategic relationship with a network of R&D stakeholders
• Influence key stakeholders and business partners to support strategy development, endorse recommended strategies, support execution and agree how benefit delivery will be budgeted
• Manage the key suppliers for the categories within scope through a robust performance management process. Ensure supplier performance is understood and measured
• Develop and Implement Operational excellence strategies and plans for key suppliers to drive improvements against defined KPIs

Why You?Basic qualifications:
• University Degree, ideally within appropriate subject such as Business, Finance or the Sciences
• Procurement experience in Services Outsourcing
• Demonstrated business acumen & knowledge of R&D categories
• Good understanding of financial principles and reporting
• Stakeholder management at a senior level (as far as SVP)
• Ability to think strategically to build relationships (with stakeholders and suppliers) and to create sourcing plans
• Proven ability to lead high level negotiations for long term and/or multi-countries high value contracts
• English proficiency (written and oral)
• Leadership/communication skills

Preferred qualifications:
• Master's Degree Business Administration/Finance/Sciences
• Pharma Industry experience
• Safety Assessment and/or Toxicology knowledge
