The Utility Engineer supports operation, inspection, and maintenance processes to mechanical, electrical and plumbing equipment and systems in assigned facilities. The Utility Engineer will work under supervision and focus on working safely. This is an entry-level position and can provide opportunities for growth in the engineering field.

You will work as part of an engineering team of three at a 180,000 square foot Class 1A office building in downtown San Francisco. This is a professional multi-tenant office building where our goal is to identify someone we will train and mentor to build a career in building engineering.

Schedule: Day Shift
Salary: Current Local 39 Union classification of Utility Engineer Class 1A ($36.45/hour)

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Complete assigned tasks that include but are not limited to: painting, pressure washing cleaning, maintaining lighting system bulbs/ballasts (as allowed by any licensing requirements), plumbing, HVAC systems, water treatment, hanging pictures, repair office furniture, locksmith work and general maintenance
  • Maintain work order system (CMMS) daily and complete any tenant service requests
  • Moves office furniture, machinery, equipment, and other materials as requested
  • Perform assigned preventive maintenance and inspection tasks
  • Support on-call or emergency response situations (if applicable)
  • Troubleshoot all building systems, including electrical, DDC and pneumatic controls
  • Comply with all safety procedures
  • Participate in ongoing technical, safety, and operational process training programs
  • Other projects and tasks to be assigned

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE

  • 3+ years of related work experience, especially in repair, maintenance, HVAC, plumbing, electrical or carpentry
  • Trade school education, union training, military service or college is desirable
  • Universal CFC EPA certification or interest in achieving within first year (with JLL assistance)
  • Experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams)
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Comfort using ladders up to 30 feet tall
  • Ability to frequently climb, bend, kneel, lift and/or drive
  • Strong customer service skills
