Treasury Funding Dealer and Junior Portfolio Manager, Officer

Who we are looking for:

State Street Bank and Trust Company, Sydney branch, is seeking to hire a Treasury Funding dealer and Junior Portfolio Manager to provide support to the Sydney branch Treasurer in managing the Sydney balance sheet.

The major responsibilities include:

  • Managing liquidity and funding requirements of the Sydney branch. This includes day to day management of currency positions and the branch's liquid assets. Daily activities include trading and position management of the AUD liquidity portfolio utilising the currency swap market, money markets, repo market, and interbank funding markets.
  • Monitoring and managing the Sydney branch balance sheet and liquidity to ensure compliance with local regulatory requirements and State Street's global and local balance sheet objectives/limits.
  • Supporting the Sydney Senior Portfolio manager in portfolio construction and trade execution of the branch's Investment Portfolio (primarily structured finance assets and rates), whilst working in tandem with Senior Portfolio Managers globally.
  • Working with Credit Analysts to buy and sell securities on behalf of the Investment Portfolio.
  • Supporting other global Senior Portfolio managers with various ad hoc Investment Portfolio duties where required.
  • Preparing reports on the local investment portfolio strategies, market developments, and Investment Portfolio risks.
  • Communicating developments in macroeconomics and market data in timely and clear manner to senior management.
  • Developing relative value outlooks for Australian RMBS/ABS and forward-looking views for these asset classes to guide the investment process.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Managing liquidity and funding requirements of the Hong Kong and Singapore branches as required, providing coverage support for Global Treasury APAC region when necessary.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with local senior management, various internal stakeholders and as well as developing banking/broker/dealer relationships with the wider financial community to support funding and Investment Portfolio activities.
  • Participating and contributing to projects related to Global Treasury initiatives.

Candidates should have the following characteristics:

  • Excellent analytical skills and good knowledge of financial markets.
  • Exhibit a high level of flexibility towards undertaking additional responsibilities as required to contribute to the overall team's success.
  • Detail-oriented and ability to work in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Excellent excel spreadsheet skills (coding skills are an additional benefit)
  • Capacity to learn new technologies/systems.
  • Professional, dependable and exhibit a high level of integrity.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with people at various levels of the organization.

Education & Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, Economics or a related field
  • 2-5 years of front office Treasury related experience
