We are looking for students with basic biological training (i.e., have taken one introductory-level undergraduate biology class, or took AP biology/IB biology in high school).


Task Description: To help us better understand the risks from biology-related capabilities in search and language models, we are asking participants to help us probe the frontiers of these tools. Candidates will interact with a new AI chatbot during the research study. The task is estimated to take six hours in total, the first hour is for the introduction and delivery of instructions, and 5 hours for engaging with the chatbot. Participants will be provided refreshments during the duration of the task. Registered participants will be able to select weekdays or weekends depending on their availability.


Duration of task: 6 hours

Location: On-Site (Los Angeles and/or South Bay area, CA, Boston and Washington, D.C.)

Project date: April 2024

Compensation: USD 330 per session


Requirements:

  • 18+ years of age

  • English proficiency

  • U.S. citizens or U.S. permanent residents with a valid permanent resident card or US registered refugees (student visas are not eligible)

  • Be able to commute to the specified on-site location

  • Undergraduate college students with basic biological training (i.e., have taken one introductory-level undergraduate biology class, or took AP biology/IB biology in high school)

  • Participant must not have received more biological training (i.e., not a biology major & has not taken 3 or more college-level biology classes)

  • Be able to provide high school/undergrad/college transcripts or records of registered courses to show the total number of biology classes taken

  • Participants can register only once for the study

  • Successfully passed background check
