Technical and Production Manager - Global Events

Verizon Media is seeking a technical production and event management professional that has experience in both producing virtual and in-person events. While this role will be heavily focused on the technical aspects of virtual event production (platform management, audio and video formats, incorporating videos / pre-recorded speeches, and managing creative), you'll also be expected to produce in-person events. This includes end-to-end production, occasionally independently and/or with the support of other team members throughout the year. Specific examples of your role in executing past events and production experience should be included in your resume and/or cover letter.This position is currently a remote position until offices safely re-open.

The technical aspects of this role are:
  • Proficiency in the virtual event landscape, awareness of current trends, vendors and best practices for delivering virtual experiences.
  • Simultaneously managing & executing multiple events of any size up to large scale, including making recommendations on balancing the optimal platform(s), vendors, and internal partners.
  • Firsthand experience and technical knowledge producing events on virtual event platforms including Zoom, Webex, GoToMeeting, BlueJeans, Vimeo, and Meet. Experience with custom solutions, integrations with Splash That and Marketo a plus.
  • Experience with live streaming, broadcast and physical/virtual event production. Ability to quickly troubleshoot and resolve platform issues before, during and after an event with an eye on best-in-class UX, quality assurance and customer centricity.
  • Strong technical, analytical and problem solving skills - willingness to roll up your sleeves and do what needs to be done.
  • Ability to learn quickly and operate autonomously in a fast-paced and unpredictable environment.
  • Familiarity with current privacy and compliance requirements related to consumer/personal data a plus (e.g., CCPA, CSTL, GDPR). Experience navigating internal legal, security, hosting and privacy teams a plus.

The Event Manager experience must include:
  • Ability to communicate clearly and persuasively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Comfortable working independently with limited guidance
  • Proficiency in managing and tracking complex budgets including contract and vendor negotiations
  • Ability to oversee cross-functional teams on programming and content; providing strategic guidance and insight moving beyond a purely logistical role.
  • Capable of managing teams; ensuring deadlines are being met
  • Knowledge of in-person event production, including but not limited to: build-out operations, staffing and labor, talent management, design and registration.
  • Accurately collect, track and analyze event performance and ROI to accurately measure results of marketing activities in order to inform event strategy
  • Development of solutions to address a variety of complex and multifaceted challenges facing event marketing

  • 6+ years of experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • This is an individual contributor position; no people management responsibility, although open to this in the future.
  • Highly motivated and excited by technology: You always have your finger on the pulse of latest technology & competitive trends
  • ideally the candidate would come from a digital events/marketing agency or role within a brand.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced, creative environment while actively contributing to a well respected, high functioning group of go-getters.
