Senior Retirement Actuarial Consultant - Memphis

Work for one of the top actuarial consulting firms in the country! As an experienced Retirement Actuary, you will have the opportunity to work on a large variety of core actuarial valuations performed within a Willis Towers Watson internal service center for the U.S. Retirement Line of Business. You will work closely with team members to ensure excellence while meeting or exceeding client expectations.

The Role
As a Senior Actuarial Consultant you will:
  • Develop a trusted advisor relationship with colleagues from other offices as well as client contacts through effective communication and efficient, quality execution of projects
  • Manage expectations and raise appropriate issues to project manager, senior consultants and client relationship managers
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and provide value-added insights on retirement plan valuations, welfare plan valuations, and special projects
  • Stay informed, ensure projects are in compliance and regularly discuss with consulting teams the implications and opportunities that changing laws and regulations have related to retirement plans
  • Perform technical review of work products and assume significant responsibility for quality assurance
  • Act as the Enrolled Actuary and Responsible Pension Actuary for a variety of clients
  • Contribute to the development of new tools and approaches
  • Support the generation of new business performed at the center as part of the broader team
  • Directly contribute to clients"EURTM success through applying your technical expertise
  • Manage projects and leverage resources to produce quality deliverable on time and within budget
  • Build relationships internally and collaborate effectively on cross-functional teams
  • Demonstrate natural ease and effectiveness when dealing with clients/colleagues at all levels
  • Serve as mentor and role model to project team colleagues
  • Serve as a technical resource to more junior associates; may be asked to provide formal training.
The Requirements:An undergraduate degree is required; Advanced degree preferredASA and EA credentials is required; FSA, CERA & CFA credentials are encouraged and a major advantageExperience and expertise conducting core valuation work in a client-service oriented environment on pension and post-retirement plans for Fortune 1,000 or organizations of similar sizeExperience with all aspects of defined benefit plan valuations is required including funding requirements, USGAAP accounting and IAS19 accounting. Experience with post-retirement welfare valuations is encouragedProven ability to understand complex valuation systems and provide a detailed technical review of work projectsProven experience successfully managing multiple projects and producing quality deliverables on time and within budgetStrong client relationship, interpersonal and team skillsStrong oral and written communication skillsSelf-starter attitude and ability to work within ambiguityFlexibility and proven ability to diagnose and resolve issuesStrong analytical and creative skillsEnjoys training/mentoring junior staffAdvanced knowledge of MS Excel and Word; experience with Visual Basic definitely helpful
