Let’s admit it right from the start –we all have biases! But what impact does this have on us as employees, colleagues, and managers? Understanding diversity and inclusion is critical for the future growth of the maritime industry.

HR Consulting from Spinnaker Global are proud to be working with Brook Graham on a range of Diversity & Inclusion initiatives within maritime.

Karen Waltham (MD at HR Consulting) and Petunia Thomas (Senior Consultant at Brook Graham) will deliver an interactive session designed to raise awareness and understanding of Unconscious Bias in the workplace.

Petunia Thomas is a Senior Consultant for Brook Graham’s Diversity & Inclusion Consultancy. She has worked on various assignments within leading global firms in Europe, USA and APAC including: - D&I strategy development & implementation for cultural change at all levels - Engaging leaders in D&I, Unconscious Bias training, D&I awareness training, reviewing and embedding D&I in core (HR) processes, various types of mentoring programmes for under-represented groups, as well as cross-cultural training to enhance the performance of distributed global teams.

Karen Waltham, MD of Spinnaker Global’s HR Consulting division, is an FCIPD professional with nearly 30 years’ experience across a range of HR disciplines, including 8 years in maritime working alongside AET, MISC and Petronas. Karen’s experience has been gained at an operational and strategic level. Specific projects included establishment of HR functions, complex and extensive restructure and downsizing programmes, merger of Lloyds and TSB HR functionality including redesign and restructure, TUPE outsourcing, major relocations, acquisition and internal consolidations. Karen is a chartered Fellow of the CIPD in addition to being SHL, OT and OPQ qualified.
