Hi Kedzie, can you tell us a bit about yourself and your involvement, and sporting achievements in the Gay Games?

I am based in Philadelphia, PA where I run a marketing agency called KedzieT Consulting. Outside of work, my life revolves around athletics, dedicating most of my free time to tennis. But in the past I've also run marathons, played soccer, won two international titles on the US Quadball team, and competed as a Division 1 collegiate sprinter. I discovered the the Gay Games in 2021, which also opened my eyes to the GLTA world tour. This was my first full year competing in the GLTA, and the celebration in Guadalajara will be my first time at the Gay Games, though I am certain it will not be my last. I started my 2023 season winning my first-ever title in Dublin, and I am eager to be competing in Mexico alongside so many amazing people.

Which Gay Games did you attend last and which sporting activity did you take part in?

This will be my first Games, and I am competing in both singles and doubles tennis!

Which sports activity/activities will you take part in this year, and in which location?

Guadalajara. Open singles and A Doubles for tennis.

Why would you recommend others to take part in this year’s Gay Games?

Building queer community within athletics is something near and dear to my heart. Since 2016 I have been an ambassador for Athlete Ally, a nonprofit that helps fight homophobia and transphobia in sports, creating safe spaces for all of us to take part in the sports we love.  When I discovered the Gay Games, I was elated. While I believe all athletic spaces should be welcoming, it's beautiful to see our community creating something special for queer people and our allies all across the world. It's important that we come together and amplify the Gay Games as much as possible, now more than ever, to come together as a community, celebrate one another, and to show others that we deserve a place in sports as much as anyone else.
