Birmingham Pride Announces New Dates As It Returns For 2021

Birmingham Pride has broken away from its May tradition to celebrate this year's event in September 2021. The announcement came after Boris Johnson revealed his lockdown roadmap which sees the return of nightclubs and festivals from June 21.

The main festival was cancelled in 2020 due to COVID restrictions and was held virtually through a live stream on social media.

It has now been announced that the long-awaited event, which is supported by HSBC UK, will be returning to Southside on September 25 and 26, 2021.

The announcement said: “After a hugely challenging and distressing year for us all, and following the latest government information on the ending of lockdown restrictions, detailing that ‘Restrictions on all large scale events will end after June 21’.

“We firmly believe that delaying until later in September gives us the most realistic opportunity to finally deliver a safe and enjoyable Pride for us all!

“We have been working very hard to secure as many of your favourite artists from our original line up as possible.”

According to ‘Birmingham Mail’, tickets for previously postponed dates will be valid for the new dates. New tickets will be on sale from 10am, Wednesday February 24, and anyone wishing to get a refund can do so.

The event will be on the theme 'Stronger Together' - the original theme for the cancelled 2020 event, which was created to remember members of the trans community who have been murdered around the world.
