Brighton Trans Pride Exceeds Expectations With “Amazing Turnout”
Brighton Trans Pride exceeded expectations with a turnout of more than 8,000 people, that’s 2,000 more than was predicted.
The event took place on the weekend with a mile-long parade at the Marlborough Pub and Theatre in Prince’s Street, and finishing at Brunswick Square Gardens in Hove.
“Amazing turnout for #TransPrideBrighton – biggest Trans Pride event in Europe & home to the first ever #TransPride in UK 7 years ago,” wrote Brighton Pavilion MP Caroline Lucas on Twitter.
She noted how this was a reflection of just how far the UK has come in terms of acceptance, “(it’s a) wonderful celebration of all that’s been achieved.”
But that “transphobic hate crimes (are still) on the rise - a reminder of how much further still to go.”
